Robert (Rob) began his Masonic career in 1988 in Newcastle. He passed to the Fellowcraft Degree and was raised to a Master Mason in 1989.
Rob held numerous leadership roles in the Craft including serving the offices of Assistant and Deputy Grand Master. He continues to serve on Grand Lodge Committees to this day.
Rob was installed as First Principal of Chapter Hunter No 22 in 2007. Rob was appointed to Supreme Committee in 2005 and as Deputy First Grand Principal and Deputy Grand Master in 2012.
He chairs a number of GZ’s Special Task Forces addressing several key areas to USGC and its members including acquiring a lift for the Petersham Building, the new Web page and others of importance to the future of the Order.
Rob was a member of the NSW Police Force for 15 years prior to being retired as a result of injuries received in the execution of his duty. On retirement from the Police Force Rob commenced studying law and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1990, and later in 1991, the High Court of Australia. He was called to the NSW Bar in 2003 and practised as a Barrister-at-Law until his retirement in 2012.
A past member of the Army Reserve, Rob was also an Army piper who performed at a number of prestigious events both in Australia and overseas.
Rob is a past President of the New Lambton Chamber of Commerce, St Gabriel’s School for Hearing Impaired Children Community Support Group and Glendale St Vincent de Paul Society.
Rob is married to Janelle, and he has two daughters and five grandchildren.
On 20th September 2014 Rob was Installed as the First Grand Principal in the Grand Lodge Room of the Sydney Masonic Centre and at the Headquarters of the Order at Petersham on 22nd September 2014 in the Egyptian Room, Rob was Installed as the Mark Grand Master.
Rob during his term of Office Rob attended the Grand Installation of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England, and was the first, First Grand Principal and Grand Master from this jurisdiction to attend the Grand Installation of the Supreme Grand Chapter of England, the Grand Installation of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of South East Asia and the Grand Installation of the Most illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of South East Asia.
In addition, Rob also lead the largest Delegation to the Supreme Grand Chapter of Scotland’s Bi-centenary Celebrations in 2017.
Most Excellent Companion Peattie retired from Office on 8th September 2018.
