Egyptian Room Open Night
9 November, 2018 @ 7:00 pm
Listed by the National Trust of NSW in 1979, The Egyptian Room was created by the eminent sculptor George Raymor Hoff in the Royal Arch Temple in College Street Sydney in 1927. The frieze was dismantled in the late 1960s and re-erected in its present location at Petersham in 1977.
Here is a golden opportunity to see and hear the translation of this unique and ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead scenario. It is the petition of Ani the Scribe and his wife Thuthu to the God Osiris. The scroll of Ani in vivid colour and representation is one of Australia’s treasured icons.
Under the National Trust listing, the Room is opened free to the public each year.
