The Grand Re-Installation was held in Newcastle over the week-end of 31 August and 1 September 2012.
To this day Companions as well as non-members of the Order who were in attendance are still talking about the delights of that week-end.
Festivities commenced on the Friday evening with a Civic reception hosted by the Lord Mayor of Newcastle who had earlier accepted the First Grand Principal’s invitation to attend the Re-Installation. The Lord Mayor was concerned that if he wore his robes he might be “over-dressed for the occasion”. He was re-assured he would not be and indeed it was indicated to him that at a Masonic function he would “blend in”!
Following the Civic reception there was a cocktail party held on the foreshore of Newcastle Harbour at the Crowne Plaza. The next day was indeed busy with a Grand Mark Convocation held in the morning followed by the Grand Re-Installation in the afternoon. That night in the main hall of Newcastle City Hall a true banquet was held for just over 200 guests.
When you look at the photos of the event you can understand why people are still talking about this event!
