Regalia for the Cryptic Degrees

To be of white lambskin, triangular in shape being 400 mm wide at the top and 410 mm long at the point, with a dark crimson semicircular flap 100 mm at the centre. The border along the sides of the apron to be of dark crimson ribbon 50 mm wide and edged on the inside and outside with 3 mm gold braid. The binding at the top edge of the apron shall be of dark crimson ribbon 38 mm wide. [PLATE CD1]

 

 

The apron of a Thrice Illustrious Master or Past Thrice Illustrious Master shall be the same as above, but in the centre of the apron shall be a small trowel (point of the trowel towards sinister base) superimposed on compasses extended to 60° [PLATE CD2] (Alternatively, the central device may be an equilateral triangle upon which is mounted a trowel (point downwards), all in gold. ROBES OF OFFICE (ROYAL MASTER AND SELECT MASTER DEGREES)no_image

The three principal Officers, being the Thrice Illustrious Master, the Deputy Master and the Principal Conductor of the Work, shall wear respectively the following plain robes: scarlet, purple and blue. [PLATE CD17]. If these robes are not available, the similar robes used in the Royal Arch Degree may be worn.


BREAST JEWELno_image

The jewel consists of a skeleton equilateral triangle (with point downwards) of white enamel surmounted by a gold imperial crown. The jewel is worn from the left breast pendent from a dark crimson ribbon 38 mm wide. [PLATE CD18]


PAST THRICE ILLUSTRIOUS MASTER’S BREAST JEWELno_image

The jewel consists of a skeleton equilateral triangle surmounted by an imperial crown, at the apex a trowel (with point downwards) on a flat circle of laurel wreath. Mounted on the trowel a square with superimposed compasses, all in gold. The jewel is worn from the left breast pendent from a dark crimson ribbon 38 mm wide. [PLATE CD19] This jewel may be worn by any Excellent Companion who has been the First Principal of a subordinate Chapter, who has been installed in the chair of Thrice Illustrious Master and who has actually worked all four Degrees as Thrice Illustrious Master whether in his own Chapter or at the invitation of another Chapter(s).


SWORD AND SWORD BELTno_image

Plain court sword with a red scabbard and gold fittings. Sword belt is to be of red leather with gold fittings. [PLATE CD20]


TROWELSno_image

The pattern(s) of trowels shall be at each subordinate Chapter’s discretion. While the blade of the trowel itself may be silver, any fittings should be gold. [PLATE CD20A]


REGALIA FOR ALL BRETHREN PRESENT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CANDIDATE
The Thrice Illustrious Master and all Officers present shall wear Cryptic Regalia. All Companions present shall wear either Cryptic Regalia or Royal Arch Regalia.


REGALIA FOR DEGREE CANDIDATES
Most Excellent Master Degree and Royal Master Degree: Royal Arch Apron at all times. Select Master: Royal Arch Apron until invested with Cryptic Regalia. Super Excellent Master: Cryptic Regalia at all times.
